School Our Way
Have you spoken to your student about how different his or her school day is? If you haven't, you may want to ask. I've included some recent images of the "goings-on."
I have absolutely had conversations with Dom about his day with varying success, honestly. As is the nature of Dominic, I sometimes get more information than I would ever hope and sometimes I get absolutely nothing!
I do know that he is engaged and happy. I also know that there are things that happen each day that are new to him and he finds that energizing. I have also had the pleasure of being in class to do the music integration and I see the classes desire to discuss things and ask questions and process what they are seeing, hearing, experiencing.
I have found that I have to be more involved with what Dom is doing in this class because I want him to get the most out of the opportunity and learn how to take responsibility for his own learning given the resources he has.
The best thing I have heard lately comes from a CMS student who is shadowing at different high schools. That student came back from their experiences with the attitude that they realize how good Corte Madera really is.
I think that the willingness of ALL of our 4th and 5th grade teachers to create something new and take advantage of such wonderful resources is remarkable and deserves our praise.
